Air Transporation

Air service to and from Knoxville is available from any of eight major airlines. Flights are offered each day, at convenient times, to and from the McGhee Tyson Airport. The city code is "TYS".

Ground Transportation and Driving Directions

Shuttle Service

Complimentary shuttle service to and from official program events, such as the performance of "A Christmas Carol," the Facutly Roast and Toast banquet, the Hooding Ceremony, and Grand Reception will be provided to your frends and family. On graduation day we will utilize shuttles and chartered buses. Passengers riding on University shuttles must observe all laws and regulations. These include following prudent personal safety precautions (buckle up), observance of Tennessee's Child Passenger Restraint Law, and abiding by State law prohibiting the posession, consumption, or conveyance of any alcoholic beverages on vehicles owned by the State of Tennessee or The University of Tennessee.

Tennessee's Child Passenger Restraint Law

For the safety and protection of infants and children, the State of Tennessee enacted the Child Passenger Restraint Law. Depending on your child's age, height, and weight a child safety restraint system may be required. Please review the what the law says and plan accordingly. Our shuttle drivers are not permitted to transport a child who is not properly restained.

Taxi Service

Taxi service is available to and from McGhee Tyson Airport and for local excursions while you are in Knoxville from many taxi services. Over the years, our Physician Leaders have come to rely upon Yusef of Gold Cab because of his company's reliability. To arrange for a taxi to take you to and from the airport using our Physician Leaders' favorite cabbie, please call Yusef at (865) 919-0001.

Parking

Each hotel provides valet or self-parking for guests or visitors at the hotel. Parking on campus is often a challenge. Due to traffic volume and a limited number of parking spots, the campus police force must ticket (or tow) those in found to be in violation of the University's parking regulations. We encourage you to leave your car at the hotel and to take advantage of our shuttle services. Parking is available at the University Center Parking Garage - just east of the Haslam Building (item C on the map below) on Philip Fulmer Drive at a nominal rate.

Bus Service

Greyhound Bus Lines provides bus service to and from Knoxville. Our local bus terminal is located in downtown Knoxville. Contact information for the Knoxville passenger terminal is: Greyhound Bus Lines; 100 East Magnolia Avenue; Knoxville, TN 37917; Phone (865) 524-0369.

Driving and Walking Directions

Interstates 40 and 75 are a convenient way to reach Knoxville and the UT campus. The University has online maps available as well as driving directions.

Lodging

We have made special lodging arrangements with the Sheraton Four Points Cumberland House Hotel for our Physician Leaders, their families, friends, and colleagues. The hotel offers top notch service and comfort. The Sheraton is adjacent to campus and in the Fort Sanders Historic District and overlooks the World's Fair Park. It is more of a "boutique" hotel.
